Financial Planning

Financial planning is a comprehensive process for setting and prioritizing your financial goals. It involves any or all of the following topics, Investments, Retirement Planning, Estate Planning, Tax planning and Insurance.  We advise clients on ways to save, invest, and manage their assets. We can address a specific financial goal—such as readying yourself to buy a house—or give you a macro view of your money and the interplay of your various assets. We believe it is important for all of our clients to have a sound financial plan.

Financial planners differ from accountants and stockbrokers who can help you lower your tax bill or trade stocks.  Or insurance agents who offer complicated life insurance policies.  Financial planners may have knowledge and experience in many of these areas but our expertise is more broad based and our guidance is specific to your situation.

Anyone can hang out a shingle as a financial planner, but that doesn’t make that person an expert. They may tack on an alphabet soup of letters after their names. A CFP® has passed a rigorous test administered by the Certified Financial Planner® Board of Standards about the specifics of personal finance. You might also encounter financial planners who cater exclusively to the rich and refuse clients with less than $250,000 to invest. At Personal Financial Planning we have no minimum investment limit as we believe that sound financial advice should be available to all who seek it. You want a planner who’ll make the time to focus on your concerns and is interested in growing with you.

Should You Use a Financial Planner?

Why leave your financial success to chance? You wouldn't build a house without a plan, or take a trip without a map, right? Your financial well-being is far too important a topic. It is important to have a handle on where you are and where you are going.

As you get older, busier and (it is hoped) more wealthy, your financial goals – and options – get more complicated. A financial planner can help save you time. Financial planners can also help you remain disciplined about your financial strategies. Procrastination can cause all sorts of money problems or unrealized potential, so it helps to have someone on your team to help you stay on track.

How do I start?

The first step is to contact us today and set up a meeting with one of our Certified Financial Planners®.  We do not charge for an initial consultation so there is no obligation until we both agree that our Financial Planning Process is right for you.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Financial Planning is a process, not a solution. A well structured planning can help you reach your financial goals by evaluating your overall financial circumstance, then outlining strategies that are tailored to your individual needs. There is no guarantee, however, that any particular strategy will work under all market conditions.

There are risks involved with investing, including possible loss of principal. Investments will fluctuate and may be worth more or less than when originally purchased. Financial Advisors do not provide specific tax/legal advice. You should always consult your tax/legal advisor regarding your own specific tax/legal situation.
